Finding Your Window Treatment Fabric A window treatment should be an elegant added feature to capture the eye into looking at the window, while you are in the room. They also create an accent in the room, bringing out the little colors around the room. The color choice of color for window treatments should not be random, should make many other items in the room, and should also have the same texture as other fabrics in the room. The first thing is to find your fabric. Your fabric should be similar to the other fabrics in the room, in texture, color, and pattern. If you have a table cloth in a dining room that is white with a silky material, you will want to put up a light white fabric up on your windows to match it. Sky blue and white bed a sheet on a bed in a bedroom means you should have sky blue and white window treatments to keep a consistent theme. Next, you have to choose the style of window treatments you need. There are two easy ways to have window treatments. Having drapes down the sides of the window all the way down to the floor. These will probably be a heavier material and should be used for larger windows in bigger rooms. Curtains are the other type of window treatment. Curtains are normally made of lighter fabrics. These curtains can be hung all the way down to the floor or with shorter lengths only going down to the bottom of the window frame. Many times, the curtains will be hung down, grabbed on the inside, middle of the curtain, and brought up towards the upper outside corners to create a diamond shaped center view out of the window, framed by the curtain. Depending on the theme of your house and the type of window treatment you are going to use, you may want to have different accents in your window treatments. For example, if you have larger walls, with tall windows, you may want to hang drapes, and then add on a top across the drape mounts. You have the choice to wrap if tightly with cloth, wrap it loosely with fluffier fabrics, or to create a unique top that blends in with the look of your drapes. For smaller windows, in a more antique style and themed home, you would want lighter curtains, probably matching the accent color of the room, in a Roman style curtain. This window treatment style, the Roman style, consists of having a separate curtain on each window. If the window is the common rectangle or square vertically sliding window like in many houses all over the world, with the lock in the middle, you may want to place a curtain rod across the middle of the window, hanging curtains down from the middle of the window, to the bottom. Then place another curtain rod at the top of the window frame, with a more elegant top window treatment piece made of the same fabric as the lower curtain. Make sure every window of the room matches with the same trim color and window treatment fabric. If you don't, your room will not be consistent and flow together, giving a messy feeling to the room. If everything matches, fabrics, colors, textures, you will have a unified room with identical windows and window treatments, giving a calmer look to the room. Window treatments are very important in a room. Perfecting the right treatments for your windows can give your house an amazing feeling of comfort, wealth, and coordination. On the other hand, if your window treatments aren't done well, you will probably feel unsatisfied with the results. This un-satisfaction feeling most likely ends up being a want to change the theme of the room all over again. So take your time, make sure to choose your accent colors, textures, and fabric patterns right the first time, so you don't have to get frustrated and want another theme change, just too easily get past the problem.
