3 Types of Drape Window Treatment Headers The bottom of the drapes, the fabric actually covering the window, is the easy part about window treatments. The hard part is selecting and creating a header for your window treatment. There are three main choices of headers for drapes you can look at. Each choice has different unique characteristics you want to look at: one being a little more classical and widely used another one more modern and popular amongst the younger generations, and the last one a more luxurious and royal style. 1) Federal Header The "Federal" is a real basic header. It consists of simple fabric, bunched up around the rod and has trumpet shaped waves on the bottom. On the top of the scrunched fabric on the rod, there is about one to two inches of fabric scrunched, as well. The "Federal" is also known as the "Trumpet Valance," for its trumpet shaped bottom. This style is meant to be simple, but elegant in its own way. It adds flow to your room, while keeping it less noticeable then the next header. 2) Toga Header The Second style is the "Toga" style. It is called is because of its fluffy, wave look it has underneath the rod. Basically, it is a couple sheets of fabric, cut to certain lengths, and makes a criss-cross pattern on the rod. It makes a more elegant, and luxury modern look to your window treatment. Although it is very bulky, it works great in larger homes to fill in some of the empty wall space, while also giving your home a sense of warmth. This style can be seen in hotel across the world, so I bet it would bring a sense of relaxation like being in a hotel, on vacation. 3) Tuck Header The last style, sort of combining both of the other styles, is the "Tuck" header. This is a tailored down header; however, there are separate fabrics wrapping, and tucking back into the tailored down fabric. This window treatment header is a casual to luxury type of header. This pattern is not as bulky as the "Toga" header, so it won’t make your window treatment look too big. It also looks a little bit more upper class type of window treatment header, rather than the "Federal" Which seems to be a classical type of header. There are three main drape headers, as discussed, are: Federal, Toga, and Tuck headers. You really have every choice of header. A more modern one, like the Toga, a more classic one, like the Federal, or the more luxurious and fancy one, the Tuck. The Choice is up to you to pick the right drape window treatment header for your window.
