Fort Myers Blinds | Sales & ServiceFor all your Fort Myers blinds needs, call us at 239-415-4410 Like any other piece of furniture, window blinds will need a little care and attention if you want to get the most out of them. The better they are looked after, the better they will look and the longer they will last. Including them in your normal cleaning routine will ensure they will always look their best and that caring for them doesn't become a burden. The different kinds of Fort Myers blinds need slightly different care, so we have put together a quick overview of each one and how to look after them.
Wooded window blinds don't need much looking after. It's just a matter of dusting them off on both sides. A vacuum cleaner seems to be the most effective way of keeping the dust at bay on wooden blinds. Feather and cloth dusters merely move the dirt around when used dry so aren't much use here. Whatever you do, don't use soap and water on them. This will damage the finish and might cause the wood to warp over time. If you have faux wood, or fake wood, it's safe to use soap and water on them unless the manufacturer says otherwise. These are most often made of plastic or composite material so can take the moisture without spoiling. Otherwise, the same care regimen used on wooden blinds will suffice. Aluminum blinds will also need dusting regularly, especially if they are of a color that shows the dirt. Use the methods listed above, a treated or micro-fiber cloth to wipe each slat. These window blinds can take soap and water, and can even be removed from the window and placed in a bowl to be cleaned if you're feeling really energetic. Use cold water and a mild detergent if you want to do this. Fabric blinds are mainly anti-static now so they don't get as dirty as they used to. However, they do still attract way too much dust so will need attention occasionally. The easiest way to keep them clean without smearing the dirt is to use a vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment. You can suck off the dirt without dragging it across the surface of the blind and making more work for yourself. If the fabric blind needs more cleaning, take it down and lay it on a flat surface. You can then apply a damp cloth to it unless the manufacturer says otherwise. Use gentle motions, cool water and a mild detergent if you can. Our Fort Myers blinds are often a focal point of a room. Keeping them clean gets the most out of them, and ensures they continue to look their best and work properly. Including the blinds in a cleaning routine prevents the buildup of dirt and that reproachful look we give them when they start getting dirty.
